Automation is cool.

This may be one of the coolest things I have ever seen.

Most train stations have a room with lockers where you can store your luggage for a few hours. Köln’s Bahnhof has a row of automated machines that fill the same role.

It’s coin operated. You select either ten or 24 hours and pay accordingly, then you put your bag in a metal cube and a conveyer belt whisks it away to the underground land of gnomes and cookie dough. When you come back later in the day, you give the machine your magnetic stripe receipt and it retrieves your bag from the Keebler Elves and sends it back to you via conveyer belt.

This is so cool that I may need to lie down.

    Stephen,
I just read your post about LJ and was wondering if your posts to this site will still appear in LJ, if we have it set up that way. Probably yes, but just don’t bother to comment on LJ, because you won’t see it, right?

Also, will you do your music/movie posts here? This site seems primarily for your Germany experience. Since I don’t have Facebook, will I not see your movie posts anymore? Just curious.

    1. In order:
      1) The steveninde feed will still collect these posts for LJ.
      2) My music/movie posts will probably not go on this blog, because that’s not really what this blog is about. I don’t think you’re missing much, though, since I haven’t written jack shit about movies or music on LJ in more than a year, not counting the Upfront posts in May.
      3) You’re not missing a megaton by not seeing my FB stuff. There are some stray thoughts and extra photos there, but mostly the good stuff goes here.
