August Break: A Regensburg Weekend Afternoon

I’m on an August Break from my regular blogging schedule. Here’s today’s pictures.

On a weekend, I like to go out to lunch with my friend Jenny.  One of my absolute favorite places in the city is Lola.

I usually get the Warm Noodle Salad.  I tell myself I’ll try something new on the menu, but this is just so damn tasty.

After lunch, while walking back from the Altstadt to my apartment, sometimes I go on the other side of the little green area near the Bahnhof.  This is where the Kepler monument is.  The last time I posted pictures of it, the entire thing was covered in snow.

There’s also this little drink stand in the park-  it’s only open in warmer weather, and it’s just the cutest thing.

Are there any fun little green spaces near where you live?

August Break: Dult Time Again

I’m on an August Break from my regular blogging schedule. Here’s today’s picture.

It’s Dult time again in Regensburg. I previously posted about Dult here.  It’s a twice a year beer festival that happens here in Regensburg, once in May and once around August.    There are rides.

…and inexplicable American flags.

Tasty food.

Beer.

Friendly beer tent staff.

Hen parties.  Americans would call these bachelorette parties.  I saw no less than six separate hen parties this weekend.  They’re kind of hard to miss.  Often, they wear matching t-shirts.

…and this photograph includes my favorite part of Dult.

No, not the ferris wheel.

No, not the cute girls in Dirndls.

Look to the right… see the Mini-Pfannkuchen stand?

Yeah.  These.

In butter and powdered sugar.  So, SO delicious.

Have you ever had mini-Pfannkuchen?  What’s your favorite part of a beer festival?

August Break: Steakhouse

I’m on an August Break from my regular blogging schedule. Here’s today’s pictures.

Germans will slap an “American-style” label on almost anything if they think it’ll sell more.  Sometimes, they get it right.  Usually, they get it dead wrong, with humorous results.

This “American-Style” steakhouse is in Regensburg, a short distance away from the Altstadt.  I liked it, but I thought the Statue of Liberty napkins were a bit over the top.

The food was pretty great though.  It’ll never top a steak in an American steakhouse, but it was very tasty.
