Today marks 500 days until the end of my time in Germany. On the 31st of October, 2014, my residence permit expires and my employment term wraps up. That’s a little over one year and four months from now- it turns out I actually passed the halfway mark back in May.
So, 500 days. I’ve got a lot to do in that time.
- I haven’t been to Neuschwanstein yet.
- I haven’t been up to have lunch on the peak of the Zugspitze.
- I’m going to see Paris in a few months.
- Despite living close to Munich, I haven’t been to Oktoberfest yet.
- I want to see the Tulip Festival in Holland.
- I kinda want to see Mini Europe in Brussels.
- I want to see Carnival in Cologne.
- I want to see the suspended trains in Wuppertal.
- I haven’t been into Poland, Romania, Turkey, or Croatia yet, and I’d like to. And maybe Greece, if there’s time.
I’ve got a lot to do. I’d better get started.
Well Zugspitze and Neuschwanstein you can do in any ole weekend. You just missed the Tulip fest, so will have to mark your calendar for next year, but could gorup that with brussels. Cologne is easy peasy (just book your hotel by like November). You’ve got this in the bag!

Any chance you’ll renew your term? I believe you mentioned early on that it was a possibility.

No way I will renew, unless I fall in love and get engaged to a German citizen in the next 7-8 months. Since I don’t date, that’s not very likely.

My mom sent me your blog, saying you know her friend Wendy. Then I mentioned it to my husband Andy, he told me he met up with you when you were in Freiburg around Easter. Small world! Anyway, I see that you have Mini Europe on your list there. We were just there last month, and it’s good cheesy fun, but if you really want to go, get there before the end of August. The city is closing it as of August 31. I have a post about the cheesiness going up on my blog on Thursday if you’re interested.
